The organizers of the 11th edition of the prestigious “Polish Company – International Champion” contest – “Puls Biznesu”, Poland’s leading business daily, and PwC Polska – distinguished Elemental Holding Group with the Grand Award in the “Investor” category for the best investment strategy and its implementation. With a long history of successful international acquisitions, the Group now comprises 19 operating companies worldwide. Through its overseas investments, Elemental Holding is successfully pursuing the strategy of becoming a leader in the global urban mining market in the strategic green metals and recycling segments.
“We are immensely proud to have received both the Grand Award as the Investor and the Distinction Award as Sustainability Champion in Ecology, as both these categories are perfectly in line with our Group’s values. For many years, we have boldly and consistently pursued our international expansion policy, which has helped us to now be present on almost all continents. As a recycling leader, we also ensure that all our new plants are built to the highest environmental standards, an excellent example of which is our newest PGM recycling and recovery plant, which is currently under construction in the Upper-Silesian town of Zawiercie,” said Paweł Jarski, CEO of Elemental Holding Group.
Last year, in cooperation with the Polish International Development Fund, the Elemental Holding Group completed another two acquisitions on the US market, taking over Maryland Core Inc. and Legend Smelting and Recycling. As a result, the total value of the Group’s investments in the US market has reached USD 100 million, which puts the company among the largest private Polish investors in the US.
In addition to winning the Grand Award as the Investor, Elemental Holding Group was also named the Sustainability Champion inEcology, which is an additional Distinction Award conferred to the Group in recognition of its pro-environment activities.
Elemental Strategic Metals, an Elemental Holding Group company, is currently constructing a new ultramodern plant in Zawiercie, Upper Silesia, that will recycle used lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) for electric vehicles, as well as batteries from laptops, mobile phones and other devices. Designed to meet the highest environmental standards, the plant aims to support responsible management of critical raw materials in a circular economy by recycling the strategically important platinum group metals (PGMs). To further reduce the plant’s carbon footprint, the plant will be powered by onsite photovoltaic panels generating green energy for the plant’s own needs.
The “Polish Company – International Champion” competition promotes the activity of Polish companies in global markets. It awards Polish companies which, thanks to foreign investments and export activities, transform themselves into global entities, compete effectively on foreign markets and build the Polish brand on the international arena.
